NURS12146 Chronic Disease Management

Course details

This course builds on foundational nursing skills to enhance and enable students to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes required when providing nursing management for clients with chronic diseases. Student s should be able to demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, implement, evaluate and accurately document nursing management for the client with chronic diseases, throug assessment and the application of critical thinking incorporating evidence base practice. Students should be able to critique the nursing management of individuals requiring palliation and suffering from chronic disorders of mobility, circulation, respiration, digestion, endocrine, neurology and integument. The relationship between physical, mental and social health in the acute client is explored.

Participation in compulsory clinical placement should provide students with a suitable learning environment to meet the course objectives. Participation in the clinical laboratory sessions is compulsory for internal students and participation in the residential school is compulsory for flex students.
