Career Opportunities
Those who are skilled in the production and application of multimedia technologies are in high demand. There are numerous career opportunities for graduates who can combine creative ability with skills in digital production and/or information technology. Employment opportunities are found in: publishing, advertising and public relations, education technology, corporate communications, government communications, internet, intranet and database development, interactive media design, and arts organisations. Within the entertainment industry, future job prospects are excellent for interactive radio and television, 3D animation, special effects, games and gaming, and mobile applications.
About Multimedia
The term multimedia is used to describe the integrated presentation of text, graphics, sound and images including digital video via computer-based media. This Bachelor of Multimedia Studies program is often updated with input from industry and it currently features courses in ‘Web 2.0' social media, 3D animation, games for mobile devices, as well as web design and, digital video and audio production. Students can choose from either a digital production major or an information technology major, or undertake a broad-based blend of those two options. Graduates from this program will be able to create and apply digital content for communication, education and entertainment. They will be confident to work individually and in collaborative teams and are trained to be adaptable in response to changes in technology. The program may be completed in three years.
