Career Opportunities

With the growing complexity in financial markets, changes in the superannuation law and the growing need of the individuals to maintain their chosen lifestyle, the need for expert knowledge in planning individuals' financial wealth has increased. Currently there are approximately 45 000 authorised representatives employed by 4578 Australian financial services licensees. Department of employment and workplace relations estimates an average employment growth of 9.5% (for past 10 years), annual staff turnover of 11.5% and estimated vacancies of 6500 advisors during the year 2006. Career opportunities can be found as an independent financial planner, working with a licensee within the finance industry or in banking.

About Financial Planning

Students in the Bachelor of Financial Planning program undertake foundation business courses in their first term, and then focus on the financial planning process, with courses in aspects of taxation and commercial law, superannuation, investment management, risk management and estate planning. The final year of the program contains a set of integrating courses, designed to develop analytical and strategic skills.
