ENEG12002 Engineering Design

Course details

This Project Based Learning course will introduce the engineering design process, and allow students to work in teams on multi-disciplinary design projects. Students identify problems and produce specifications from a loosely formed client brief and produce a paper based engineering design in a multi disciplinary design team. They design or select components for the system and apply principles of sustainability, usability and safe design that satisfy Australian Standards. Students will document complete designs that will include computer aided drawings/models. They will also demonstrate how independent study has contributed to life long learning. Students will demonstrate development of a professional attitude, problem solving skills, technical knowledge and productive work practices. Students are required to act professionally in presenting information, communicating, and working and learning, both individually and in teams.

Distance education (FLEX) students will be required to have access to a computer and make frequent use of the Internet. Students will need frequent access to a Microsoft Windows computer loaded with appropriate CAD software identified in the learning resources.
