The aim of the program is to provide students with:

  1. academic preparation for professional practice and leadership in the field of education;
  2. opportunities to extend professional expertise and interests in education;
  3. opportunities to develop pedagogical content knowledge;
  4. understanding of student alternative conceptions that hinder learning and problem solving;
  5. opportunities to explore modern learning theories that are relevant to teaching and learning;
  6. completion of the first phase of a learning journey in which content knowledge, pedagogy and metacognitive reflection enables the teacher to teach new and interesting topics;
  7. acquire the necessary skills to plan, implement and evaluate new personal teaching programs.

The Master of Professional Education (MPE) is an accredited Masters program designed to further the academic and practical skills of teachers and educators with the ability to plan and lead education and associated sectors.  This degree ensures that theoretical perspectives are applied to a global setting as well as providing a solid core of the foundations and futures of education.  The courses studied ensure a knowledge of the relationship between theory and application.

The MPE provides a solid reference base for education managers, college and school principals, teachers and lecturers underpinned by critical and creative thinking appropriate for the attainment of the Masters degree.  This degree also prepares award students to approach further postgraduate study.

Program Structure
Students must complete 8 courses (64 units of credit) to satisfy the requirements for the award.
