Career Opportunities

A higher degree by research is usually required for an academic career or a professional career in research.  Many other discipline-specific employment opportunities exist as employers recognise the skills developed through a research degree are widely applicable in the workplace.

About Research Higher Degrees

A research higher degree is a program of supervised research and study leading to the preparation of a thesis.  The holder of a research higher degree will have submitted a thesis which examiners have declared to have provided a contribution to knowledge and demonstrated the candidate's capacity to carry out independent research.

Research is an integral part of CQUniversity's purpose.  There is a strong commitment to the conduct of cutting-edge research in new areas which challenge the boundaries of the traditional disciplines to provide distinctive research opportunities and solutions for staff, candidates and sponsors.

The Associate Dean (Research and Innovation) is responsible for the management of the Faculty's research portfolio by planning and monitoring the Faculty's directions and activities in research and postgraduate research training.
