COIT13228 Managing & Securing Networks

Course details

The security and management of networks is vital to the overall control and operation of computer networks. This course covers IT information library technology, which is about the management of faults, configuration, accounting, performance, security and planning of networks. Students will study how to configure, monitor and control security through the use of firewalls, secure tunnels, intrusion detection systems and trusted systems. This course involves script writing to automate procedures and use of web based enterprise management. Emphasis is placed on best practices and quality of service to end users. Students will learn practical skills to management and secure intranets by developing those skills in configuring, monitoring and controlling secure services. This will enable students to analyse, design and implement corporate networks.
