NURS21153 Communication Skills for Advanced Professional Practice

Course details

This course is designed to encourage student learning across a number of practical communication areas. The role of the senior Registered Nurse is changing and incorporates an increasing level of responsibility and accountability for the quality of care being delivered. Effective communication skills are integral to performance in career positions. These advanced skills include report writing in clinical practice, clinical case presentation, developing sound academic arguments to support clinical and funding submissions. Reports and presentations may be required to be delivered at various levels from community representation to direct response to ministerial queries or Commissions of Inquiry. The course expands the practitioner's repertoire of clinical communication skills beyond the therapeutic and into the professional arena. It refines both oral and written skills of communication and enables the student to develop effective reports, case presentations and clinical submissions based on sound data gathering, data analysis and well constructed presentations.
