COIT23005 Distributed Systems

Course details

This course aims to teach principles, design and development of distributed systems. It shows how to analyse, apply and evaluate the knowledge common in the distributed systems domain. Topics such as communication, process management and control, naming issues in distributed systems, fault tolerance and security, synchronisation, consistency and replication, distributed object and file systems and the WWW, and distributed systems are covered. Students will carry out processes that use these specialised skills in the application of these concepts to applied practicial problems in the distributed systems problem domain. The student will also be expected to conduct independent research into the current state of art in issues in distributed systems.
