EDCU13016 Literacy In the Classroom

Course details

EDCU13016 Literacy in the Classroom addresses literacy learning and instruction in Queensland primary schools. It focuses on the early years, including how early literacy acquired prior to formal schooling informs literacy instruction in classrooms. This course is grounded in a socio-cultural theory of literacy - that is, literacy is viewed as a diverse range of social practices, not just a fixed set of skills. Students are required to draw on their concurrent experiences in early learning contexts. Specifically, they will work with a focus child in order to demonstrate aspects of assessment of literacy and how instructional strategies are informed by assessment of individual learning.
