DNCE13015 Dancers as Artists

Course details

The foundations of dance explored in Dance I and further developed in Dance II will be extended and developed further to the advanced level through this course with the investigation of the various aspects of technical theatre processes utilised in the dance production process. The course of study undertaken through this term will provide an advanced basis for the acquisition of dance skills in the classical tradition and to investigate technical aspects related to staging classical dance productions through both theoretical and practical expositions.

Continuous development of contemporary dance, tap and modern theatre dance is emphasised. The work in this term further examines dance within its historical and social setting, analyses the meanings of dance and, by continuing to develop the applications of contemporary dance techniques, provides for the further acquisition of dance skills with various productions of contemporary dance artists from classical to modern theatre investigated through the technical theatre genre.
