A recommended study schedule for this program can be obtained from the Faculty. Students may determine their own schedule based upon credit transfers and personal study requirements.
It is important to note that full-time students usually enrol in between 18 and 30 units of credit per term and these units will be determined from the program structure.
Students must complete 30 courses (234 units of credit) in a combination of 6 and 12 units of credit courses.
Degrees in engineering with honours
Engineering students will be eligible for honours according to the University’s 'Weighted Grade Point Average' (WGPA) honours calculation rules, except that third class honours will not be awarded, on the following basis:
The WGPA of a student’s results over the first three years of the program (144uc) must be at least 5.00 to be eligible for honours. Failure to meet this WGPA will result in students not being eligible for the award of honours, regardless of their performance in the required 48uc of engineering course study (as detailed below) for honours calculation.
In all cases for the calculation of WGPA, a student’s result in their first attempt at a course will be used for the GPA calculation.

Rules for progression
1. A Bachelor of Engineering (Co-op)/Diploma of Professional Practice (Engineering) student must pass all program courses in the first three terms of the program to be eligible for progression in the program and acceptance into the first industry work experience placement.
2. A Bachelor of Engineering (Co-op)/Diploma of Professional Practice (Engineering) student must pass all program courses in the first six academic terms of the program to be eligible for progression in the program and acceptance into the second industry experience placement.
3. The results from the first attempt at a course are to be used to establish eligibility for progression in the program. Successful completion of a course on subsequent attempts does not alter the eligibility of a student.
4. The Engineering Undergraduate Program Committee may allow a student who does not meet the eligibility rules to remain in the Bachelor of Engineering (Co-op)/Diploma of Professional Practice (Engineering) program.
5. Students who do not meet the rules for progression in the Bachelor of Engineering (Co-op)/Diploma of Professional Practice (Engineering) program shall be eligible for exclusion from the Bachelor of Engineering (Co-op)/Diploma of Professional Practice (Engineering) program and required to transfer into the standard Bachelor of Engineering programs.
Articulation and credit transfer
The program allows the recognition of students' appropriate previous study and experience gained from working in industry, through 'Recognition of Prior Learning' (RPL) and 'Recognition of Current Competencies' (RCC). Students will be assessed for credit transfer on a case-by-case basis and will be required to nominate courses they wish to be considered for exemption from. Grounds for that exemption, through students’ demonstration of prior achievement of the CQU courses’ learning outcomes, must be documented and assessed as satisfactory by the Program Committee. Students may only gain credit transfer for up to 50% of the overall program, on a units of credit basis, with a majority of Advanced Level courses studied.
Computing requirements
It is a requirement of enrolment in this program that all students have access to the CQU World Wide Web site via the Internet. Students may be required to undertake various components of study in the program using email and the Internet.
