Career Opportunities

The Graduate Certificate in Flexible Learning (GCFL) will be offered to CQU staff as a means for improving the effectiveness of teaching across the University.  It will also provide a mechanism for increasing interest in the professional dimensions of 'teaching and learning' as a core element of university academic work.  The program will provide a range of knowledge and skill that constitutes expertise in teaching and learning in the same way as other professionals espouse expertise in their chosen fields.

Entry requirements

Academic Staff who are newly appointed to the University will be required to complete the GCFL or demonstrate an equivalent qualification.  Other staff can enrol in the program or may be directed to undertake the program during the PRPD process.

Consideration of acceptance into the degree of Graduate Certificate in Flexible Learning will be given to a person who has:

  • an undergraduate degree, masters or doctoral degree from an Australian university;
  • has an undergraduate degree, masters or doctoral degree from an International university recognised by the NOOSOR guidelines as being equivalent to an Australian masters degree;
  • a demonstrated competence to undertake the GCFL program based on equivalent qualifications and/or experience. Equivalence is determined by the Program Leader on the basis of the relevant content and standard of the GCFL in one or more of the following categories:
  1. an academic record in a diploma or certificate award of appropriate content and standard;
  2. published or unpublished material of appropriate content and standard;
  3. satisfactory achievement in qualifying programs;
  4. non-award professional development activities and/or work experience; or
  5. a substantial professional portfolio.
Applicants, for whom English is not their first language, must be able to prove their English language proficiency of at least IELTS Level 7.0.  The level will be determined from time to time by the Faculty Education Committee on advice from the Professional Review Committee.
