Career Opportunities

Graduates with a double degree have access to other career possibilities outside their primary discipline and are highly attractive to potential employers.  The Bachelor of Engineering Technology/Bachelor of Learning Management (Secondary) program is for those who aim to pursue a career as a high school teacher with a specialised engineering technology option, or a technical educator in industry.

Graduates are qualified to teach in high schools from Year 8 to 12 and are eligible to teach in all states of Australia and overseas.  Graduates are eligible to apply for teaching positions with employers including Education Queensland, Catholic Education and independent schools.

About Engineering Technology/Learning Management

The Bachelor of Engineering Technology/Bachelor of Learning Management (Secondary) program is dedicated to the graduation of industry-ready and futures oriented educators.  Students are supported by industry-experienced educators – trained to mentor students.

Students explore personal development through self-understanding and expression, as well as the theoretical foundations of education.  Academic development and the practical application of teaching skills are also a focal point in learning management programs.  The purpose of combining the Bachelor of Engineering Technology/Bachelor of Learning Management (Secondary) programs is to provide students with a thorough knowledge and understanding of particular subject areas they wish to teach in a secondary school.

Note: It is now a requirement of the Commission for Children and Young People that all university students and other volunteers in schools undergo a criminal history check.  Therefore it will be necessary for all commencing students to apply for a ‘Suitability Blue Card’ through a nominated person at each campus.  The ‘Suitability Blue Card’ remains current for two years.

No new enrolments are being taken in this program of study.
