MGMT19114 Strategic Management

Course details

This course covers, at the undergraduate level, the main concepts, tools, techniques, practices and approaches to strategy. This course provides a strong foundation for the follow-up capstone course that integrates material from all your studies. You will study how to analyse visions, missions, objectives and strategies for large diversified organisations as a whole, for strategic business units and for smaller entrepreneurial enterprises. You will learn the main principles of strategy in practice, and the assessment of the best strategic choice options. Both competitive and co-operative strategies are covered. You will also cover how to improve the chances of achieving successful strategy implementation. The course covers both formal strategic planning and emergent strategy under conditions of rapid change, uncertainty and complexity. Students are strongly advised to attempt this course in their 2nd last term of enrolment, in the term immediately prior to enrolling in Business Integration Topics.
