ENAG11001 Engineering Drafting

Course details

This course develops the student's visualisation and engineering drawing skills to enable them to create and interpret engineering drawings. Students sketch three-dimensional objects and engineering artefacts, develop hand drawings and interpret drawings that use orthographic projection conventions and sectioning conventions complying with AS1100 Drawing Standards, draw 2D engineering artefacts using computer aided drafting (CAD) software, providing sufficient information to manufacture artefacts. This includes the use of auxiliary views and true shapes of inclined and oblique surfaces. Students also demonstrate an effective, professional level of teamwork and communication and support collaborative learning, and produce drawings and sketches in a professional manner.
Distance education (FLEX) students will be required to have access to a computer and to make frequent use of the Internet. Students will need frequent access to a Microsoft Windows computer loaded with appropriate CAD software identified in the Learning Resources.
