Course details

A vital component of scholarly communication is the ability to identify sources of information on a topic that is being researched and locate pertinent references. In this way timely information can be shared with other researchers and released to the public. Through the knowledge gained in this course, students will be in a position to substantially improve the quality of scholary communication. They will be aware of the current limitations of information retrieval systems and the advances that are being made with information technology. The understanding of these issues will enhance the students' ability to accurately communicate scholarly information. In addition, by conducting online searches on their chosen topic, they will develop a detailed understanding of the literature in this domain.
