Course details

This course explores concepts and practices of transformational leadership by creating and sustaining a learning community and employs critical foresight, futures work and reflection to inform ethical leadership. The course also examines human resource management in education including building and developing professional work groups and teams and strategies for professional development. The course is problem-solving based and students analyse a range of business solutions for issues affecting school resource management. Theories of change management and educational reform models for the 21st Century are explored in order that students are challenged to consider leadership issues for their Professional Education Research Project.

The course aims to provide a solid reference base for professional education leadership, to develop critical and creative thinking appropriate for the attainment of the Masters degree, and to apply that thinking to the resolution of complex problems concerning the role of the professional educator.
