MDWF22001 Indigenous and Culturally Diverse Midwifery Practice

Course details

This course explores cultural influences on childbearing and childrearing, and the
ability of midwifery practice and maternity services to meet cultural needs.
A focus upon Australian Indigenous women and their birthing practices is undertaken to examine their effects on current birth practices. The course builds on the concepts of woman-centered care in order to determine and meet the needs of childbearing women from diverse cultures groups in order to provide culturally safe and competent care.
