Course details

Workplace Skills provides students with practical expertise in communication in the workplace. There is a lot of attention given to interpersonal communication including interviewing, negotiation, collaboration and conflict resolution. The course provides an understanding of the genres traditionally used for business communication (such as the formal meeting) as well as new technologies (such as videoconferencing). The aim is to enable graduates to function confidently in the organisations which employ them and equip them to be resource persons who can evaluate the effectiveness of communications strategies and make recommendations. The course develops students' ability to apply their research and critical skills in a business environment.
