HLTH11027 Foundations of Health Promotion

Course details

This course outlines the evolution of the concept of health promotion over the past two centuries. It briefly considers nineteenth century sanitary reform movements and the establishment of the federal department of health before focusing on developments within health promotion over the past 30 years. In considering this evolution, emphasis will be placed on the various charters relating to primary health care and the social, political and economic factors that have influenced the implementation of such principles. Students are required to attend a two day residential school on the Bundaberg Campus as part of this course.
