OCHS20021 Occupational Health, Hygiene and Toxicology

Course details

This course allows for a learner to gain an understanding of a range of occupational hygiene hazards in the workplace, including the long term adverse effects of exposure, the assessment of physical, chemical and biological hazards utilising scientific equipment and methodologies as well as control considerations and methods. Areas covered include identification of occupational hygiene hazards, sampling and analytical techniques and equipment, fitness for work, health surveillance, the concepts of biological monitoring and biological exposure indices, their relationship to occupational exposure standards and the concept of dose. Relevant legislative and guidance standards as they relate to occupational health, hygiene and toxicology will be identified to provide learners with options for hazard evaluation and control. All students are required to attend a compulsory residential school at the CQU Rockhampton campus. It is a requirement of this course to have access to the CQU website and the internet.
