PERF11014 From Play to Performance

Course details

This course focuses on the distinctive challenges and responsibilities of producing and performing theatre from script to stage. It will begin with an investigation of the various methods used by director's such as Growtowski, Stanislavski and Brecht. It will proceed to examine the philosophies, acting and production styles, genres and techniques of each selected director. The course will involve practical research, theatrical directing workshops, improvisation and idealogical critique of each differing style of theatre direction. The outcome will involve a public performance of a scripted piece which will encourage each student to direct a component of this script through negotiation and deliberation within the group.
