NUTR19001 Nutrition

Course details

The study of this course will assist students to develop their understanding of the principles of nutrition. These principles will be related to the needs of the client at each stage of the lifecycle. The importance of promoting good nutrition for the health of the client will be emphasised. This course develops the themes of nutrient requirements for health, the determinants of food selection to supply those requirements, tools for assessment of nutritional adequacy and to give appropriate nutritional advice; and the consequences of inappropriate food choices providing a foundation for further study in community related areas as well as fitness and sports orientated courses. Nutrition develops aspects of study that are relevant to understanding of clinical nutrition and other disease states. Many students also find it a useful general interest course adding to their broader understanding of human condition.
