INDG11005 Indigenous Ways of Learning

Course details

This course is designed for students with an interest in Australian Indigenous education and training and will appeal to those with Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment or those working with, or seeking to work with, Indigenous people in a community, workplace or other educational or organisational capacity. Initially students gain an understanding of Indigenous teaching and learning prior to invasion and as a result, an appreciation of contemporary issues for Indigenous students and their teachers in educational and training contexts today. Students gain an awareness of the cultural and social aspects which may influence learning cultures and related life experiences. An awareness of the Indigenous learner is acquired through the opportunity to explore the Indigenous education journey through the examination and evaluation of a variety of approaches including practical scenarios.
