Recommended study schedule

A recommended study schedule for this program can be obtained from your program administrator. Students may determine their own schedule based upon credit transfers and personal study requirements.

It is important to note that full-time students usually enrol in 24 units of credit per term and part-time students usually enrol in 12 units of credit per term.

 

Degrees in Engineering with Honours

Engineering students will be eligible for honours on the following basis:

  • honours degree students must take specified electives;
  • the project thesis for honours students will contain a substantial amount of research;
  • there will be 3 levels of honours achievement: First Class Honours, Second Class Honours Division A, Second Class Honours Division B
  • the class of honours will be decided by the following: GPA of 6 or greater - First Class Honours; GPA of 5.5 up to 6 - Second Class Honours Division A; GPA of 5.0 up to 5.5 - Second Class Honours Division B
  • Honours are calculated on first attempt course results from the final year of the nominal program (48 units of credit).

Appropriate industry experience employment and report

Each student must gain at least 12 weeks of appropriate industry work experience in a relevant area of engineering. The student must also submit a report indicating the kind of work done, the degree of responsibility involved, the person(s) to whom the student was directly responsible, and the general activities of the employer.

This report must be certified by the employer and submitted within 6 weeks following completion of the work experience period.

Note that graduation status will not be certified until the industry experience report is accepted as satisfactory.

 

Computing requirements

It is a requirement of enrolment in this program that all students have access to the CQU World Wide Web site via the Internet. Students may be required to undertake various components of study in the program using email and the Internet.
