Course details
Tourism is a dynamic phenomenon that continually adjusts to changing social, physical and economic environments. The stark contrast between the record level of global tourism activity in the year 2000 at the onset of the new millennium and the subsequent adjustment brought about by economic decline, terrorism and war represents very recent reminders. Tourism is arguably more affected by globalisation pressures than any other industry sector and it is therefore becoming ever more difficult for small to medium businesses in regional communities to successfully compete with international companies. However, not all recent tourism activity has been negative and there have been some very real winners over recent times. It is therefore essential that todays tourism and hospitality graduates possess the necessary entrepreneurial and business skills necessary to be able to not only contribute to the survival of local enterprises but to be able to assist them to grow and prosper.
