Course details
This course introduces nursing students to an understanding of the dimensions of nursing in an acute medical environment, providing care to individuals across the lifespan. In particular students will have the opportunity to examine the principles and practices for facilitating the care of clients experiencing medical conditions resulting from compromised body systems. Incorporated into this course will be further development of the skills of health assessment, clinical decision making and discharge planning. Students will consolidate theoretical knowledge through participation in laboratory based sessions and through clinical experience in acute medical wards under the guidance of clinical educators. Students may be required to undertake up to 24 days supervised clinical practice as a component of the course. It is a requirement of this course to have access to the CQU website and Internet.
