EDED20462 Professional Studies III: Content & Pedagogy

Course details

Students choose and learn new chemistry content, and new pedagogy or assessment skills. The course contains three modules, with a maximum of two content + pedagogy modules and one misconceptions/assessment module. The aim is to expand content knowledge, pedagogy and understanding of the alternative conceptions that hinder learning. For example, the course would comprise a range of topics including but not limited to: C2 Chemical reactions, equations and reaction rates; C9 Read & review The periodic kingdom (Peter Atkins) or Uncle Tungsten (Oliver Sacks); Investigate strategies that interest students in chemical reactions and help students visualise at a microscopic level what is seen to happen at a macroscopic level using diagnostic and formative assessment.
