ENEC14009 Geotechnics II

Course details

This course continues and extends the geotechnical theory introduced in Geotechnics I. On successful completion of this course, you should be able to: Describe and validate models of the observed mechanical behaviour of soil and rock subjected to environmental moisture change effects, consolidation, and shearing; Demonstrate how these models are used to resolve commonly encountered engineering problems related to the stability of slopes and the volumetric stability of deposits of clay soils subjected to changes in environmental moisture availability; Describe and demonstrate site investigation and geotechnical testing techniques used to characterise sites and soils for engineering purposes.
