20th Century: Crucible of the Modern World examines a selection of key issues and problems that have shaped the history of the Twentieth Century. It considers the emergence of modernism, international rivalry leading to the Great War, the origins of Arab-Israeli conflict 1900-1945, the rise of Fascism and the path to European War 1920-1939, the first Cold War 1945-1961, African decolonization 1945-1989, Latin America 1945-89, the rise of the People’s Republic of China 1949-1989, the shift from Cold War to Détente 1962-1979, Arab-Israeli Conflict 1949-2000, the rise of political Islam 1967-2000, and the emergence of the ‘new world order’ 1980-2000.
