RELG19001 Religious Experience and Texts

Course details

This course addresses the needs of students who wish to teach religion in Catholic schools or other Christian educational settings by providing opportunities for students to develop a sound adult knowledge base and mature understanding of the Christian Scriptures in conversation with their own experience. By encouraging students to understand the use of storytelling and written texts in the development of religions, by exploring different methods and perspectives in the reading of sacred texts, and by a focussed study of The Gospel of Mark, this course facilitates students' awareness of: firstly, the approaches offered by contemporary biblical scholarship; and secondly, their own location within the broad range of perspectives introduced.
