Course details
This course is a compulsory component of initial teacher preparation. Students will be given a combination of lectures and tutorials. Students are placed in schools preceded by consultation with the associate teacher. Throughout this professional practice the student's responsibility will vary from having the main responsibility for teaching or introducing learning activities to that of working as a co-teacher with the supervising teacher. They should expect to be involved most of the time in a teaching role with an individual student, a small group or the whole class. Emphasis is placed on writing and implementing session/course plans, routines and working relationships. (Note: Students specialising in early childhood will be placed in either a Pre School, Child Care Centre, Kindergarten or Years 1-3 setting.)
