MUSC12391 Vocal Studies 4

Course details

The acquisition of aural skills is integral to the study of the voice. The singer must have good aural perceptions of harmony and rhythm. In order to satisfy this aim, the study of Musicianship has been nested within the course that addresses the study of the voice: Vocal Studies.

The vocal module will provide further studies on the principles of vocal production. Vocal lessons will concentrate on further development of breath usage, support and placement of the voice, together with development of the range of the voice, with application to repertoire in preparation for the exam at the end of the course. The lectures will focus on areas that effect the voice, such as hormonal changes, diseases such as learning strategies, disease and breathing problems which will impact on delivery of the voice. The lectures will also focus on technical issues and problem solving associated with practice.
