ENEV20002 Waste Minimisation and Cleaner Production

Course details

This course provides a framework for improvements in resource management in industry, commerce and government. It emphasises pro-active approaches to resource management through the concepts of resource conservation, waste minimisation, cleaner production and pollution prevention. Its prime focus is on waste reduction, materials and energy recovery, and pollution prevention as alternatives to 'end of pipe' waste disposal and pollution control strategies. The course provides a framework for sustainable waste management through planning and design, waste management and operational practices, resource recovery and reuse, treatment and ultimate disposal. The course also considers the adoption of clean technologies and recovery of hazardous materials where environmental and health benefits can be achieved by economically and socially acceptable means.
