EDVT12015 Adolescent & Adult Literacy & Numeracy

Course details

This course aims to provide students with an introduction to the issues of adolescent and adult literacy and numeracy. The course is divided into three modules. 1. Issues in adolescent and adult literacy and numeracy. 2. Planning and applying strategies to assist learners to develop English language and literacy and numeracy skills. 3. The national framework and competencies issues.

The first module deals with introductory and contentious issues for adolescent and adult literacy and numeracy in Australia today. The second module aims to identify the methodologies and strategies for teachers to apply to the learner in order to develop their literacy and numeracy skills. It also involves identifying the learner's needs, planning appropriate strategies and assessing their development. The third module deals with the National framework for Adult English language, literacy and numeracy competence.
