DRMA11012 Classical Drama

Course details

This course will enable students to explore, through a range of relevant plays, the tragic and comic dimension of classical drama by conducting a brief but in depth survey beginning with Greek theatre and moving to Death of a Salesman (1949). Students will have the opportunity to investigate the ways in which these early forms of drama were changed by the Renaissance, by the nineteenth century rise of literacy, and by modernism. Students will develop confidence and competence in critical thinking skills, performance, and both oral and written communication skills.
