Course description
Tourism demand is generally regarded as elastic and therefore susceptible to a certain amount of manipulation and relatively rapid change. This course considers the nature of tourism demand; the factors which may influence demand patterns for attractions and destinations; and the conceptual frameworks of the destination and marketing mixes as the bases for developing strategies for the management of tourism demand in instances where demand needs to be stimulated; or in situations where demand needs to be dampened in the interests of avoiding detrimental environmental, social and economic impacts.
