THTR11065 Staging Performance
Course description
This course enables students to acquire a practical working knowledge of the elements of composition and the use of and creation of form in performance. Students will be encouraged to develop an understanding of the frames that govern and constrain the design of contemporary creative performance practices. The concept of space and the utilisation of both open area and restricted areas are discussed. Students will also be exposed to performances and the appraisal of space used in these. The course allows students to evaluate and assess the process of staging a performance, including dance, drama, musical as well as eclectic styles.
