PHYS11183 Physics IB
Course description
This course is intended to introduce the student to some of the basic principles of physics, in order to develop a fundamental understanding of several broad areas (Heat, Waves and Optics and Electricity) applied to different fields of engineering and technology. In addition students gain some practical experience of the measurement techniques used to investigate certain physical phenomena. Emphasis throughout the course is placed upon a range of learning experiences (lecture-discussions, practical sessions, tutorials) intended to help students develop as independent learners. A knowledge of physics comparable to a satisfactory achievement at HSC level is advisable for those commencing this course. A bridging course "IntroPhysics", that can be completed in your own time before commencement, is available. Contact R.D.Metcalfe (phone number etc. in part B) for more information.
