Course description
This course is intended to introduce the student to some of the basic principles of physics, in order to develop a fundamental understanding of several broad areas of physics ( mechanics, properties of matter and atomic and nuclear physics) applied to different fields of engineering and technology. In addition the student will: gain some practical experience of the measurement techniques used to investigate certain physical phenomena. Emphasis throughout the course is placed upon a range of learning experiences (lecture-discussions, practical sessions, tutorials) intended to help students develop as independent learners.
