NURS13116 Transition to Professional Practice

Course description

In this course students will participate in learning activities related to the development of time management skills, clinical decision making, scope of practice issues, the role of the multidisciplinary team and nurses' role within this team, copying techniques needed by the registered nurse working rotating shifts in busy clinical settings, the leadership role of the registered nurse in the health care setting, nursing assignment systems, conflict management, workplace health and safety, workplace relations, unions and professional nursing organisations. Clinical effectiveness and evidence based practice will also be a focus of study along with the use of technology to support nursing practice and nursing decisions. It is a requirement of this course to have access to the CQU website and Internet. There is a compulsory 2 day on-campus workshop for this course.
