MMST12020 3D Animation

Course description

This course will help you to develop skills in 3D animation and visual effects using Maya Personal Learning Edition. Build on your knowledge of 3D modelling and rendering with an introduction to animation principles and techniques. Learn how to make a 3D character that moves realistically with the aid of an internal skeleton, a surrounding skin mesh and inverse kinematics. Bring your 3D characters to life by learning how to animate a walk cycle, synchronise lip movements with dialogue, and convey emotion through facial expressions, posture and gestures. Explore various tools and techniques for creating 3D visual effects such as the use of particle systems and procedural animation. Note: Access to a computer running Windows 2000/XP Professional with a 3D graphics card, an Internet connection, audio capabilities and a CD-RW drive is a requirement for this course.
