MGMT19119 Supply Chain Storage and Distribution

Course description

This course involves the study of the warehousing and physical distribution of goods. Transportation, warehousing, packaging, unitisation, receipt and dispatch of goods are all topics addressed. The management of the processes is the key issue and the costs and organisation of operations are dealt with specifically. A supply chain focus is adopted so that the aim is that goods are distributed seamlessly between organisations, that the distribution becomes an effective pipeline from the source to the sink. In this context inventories are sometimes necessary but are limited to the minimum required to provide expected service levels to customers.
