Course description

This course provides an overview of the strategic management of the purchasing and materials management functions. Strategic impact of the purchasing and materials function, role of logistics in organisations. Development of the logistics function, the need for education of senior managers, the need for implementation of logistics as an integral part of an organisation's focus at the senior level. Logistics as it applies in retailing, in government, in defence activities, in manufacturing, mining and other key sectors.
