This course focuses on professional English language as a system for meaning and wording; the relationship between professional English and its social context; effects on the structure of discourse and the constitution of different discourse types. The emphasis is on practical analytical skills, focusing on language data from participants' work and professional contexts, integrating the study of texts, grammar, discourse and pragmatics in a coherent theory of English in professional use.
