Course description
This course will provide essential background for understanding ongoing debates about the role and significance of journalism and, more broadly, approaches to journalism and media history. In examining the origins of a range of professional ideologies and their institutional settings, the course focuses on key issues such as freedom of speech, the impact of technologies and regional contexts.
