Course description
This course is designed to advance first year knowledge of print journalism by concentrating on story sub-editing and newspaper layout and design. Students gain knowledge and practice in headline writing, 'tasting' for news values and innovative layout. They are introduced to the broadsheet/tabloid debate, and more specifically, to the use of modular tabloid newspaper layouts. Technical and ethical aspects of photo journalism and the use of photographs on a page will also be an integral aspect of this course.
