INDG11005 Indigenous Ways of Learning
Course description
This course is offered specifically for Indigenous first year education students. It is also relevant to other students at CQU. In this course students examine their own learning history. They examine and evaluate a variety of pedagogical approaches used by different cultures and institutions, including some of those used at CQU. Through these investigations, students deepen their understanding of: (i) their preferred ways of learning, including the cultural, institutional and personal determinants of these preferences, and, (ii) instances of congruence and contradiction between learning approaches most relevant to Indigenous people, and those used at university. Students will work together in groups to address areas of concern.
