HMSC13024 Advanced Sport & Exercise Psychology
Course description
The course will develop the student's understanding of the growing body of knowledge in applied sport and exercise psychology. The course is divided into three parts. The first part covers issues surrounding learning, feedback, motivation, desirable leadership behaviours, group dynamics and effective communication. The second part of the course relates to mental training for enhancing human performance. Part three addresses issues relating to referral of sport competitors to professional counselling, psychological considerations of injury, staleness and burnout in sport, withdrawal from sport, and exercise psychology. Lecture information will be supplemented with laboratory and project-based research.
